About Khandesh
Khandesh is a culturally rich and historically significant region in the state of Maharashtra, India. Traditionally, it encompassed the present-day districts of Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar. Historically, its boundaries also extended to include the Malkapur block of Buldhana district, as well as parts of Kalwan, Satana, Malegaon, Deola, and even Burhanpur district in present-day Madhya Pradesh. Today, however, Khandesh is primarily identified with Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar districts.
It is known as the Gateway to the Deccan, Khandesh holds a unique place in the region’s history and development, blending a legacy of resilience with a vibrant cultural identity.
